Welcome to the Kitchener Waterloo Aquarium Society website and forum. Our club was founded over 50 years ago in 1960. KWAS is a friendly, family oriented, non-profit organization which welcomes hobbyists of all ages who want to learn more about this fascinating hobby. All of us want to learn and share our experiences and expertise with others. Our club is very diverse, with interests ranging from freshwater tropical fish and aquatic plants to marine fish and reef keeping. KWAS is also a charter member of

Hello again everyone and welcome to another edition of our newsletter. Please enjoy the issue and as you do please remember that Jayne will be stepping down as our editor after one more issue so if you have always wanted to try your hand at publishing, editing and creating something special as our newsletter has become, please let it be known to the Exec so we can indoctrinate you into the fold.
Speaking of the Exec, this will be the last meeting for the current group to be working together before our elections which will be held during the meeting. There will be four exec positions decided to lead the club for the next year – President, Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer. These positions are vital to the steering of the club over the next year and its future. If you have an interest and a drive to be part of that direction please contact Jayne and let her know which position you would be interested in. You can also nominate someone that you feel would do the job. After our elections, all of the standing Board of Director (BOD) positions become open for the Exec to fill, so if there is something there that you would like to try, again please contact an Exec with your interest. All of the BOD positions are listed on page 3 of the newsletter.
The rest of the meeting will be business as usual. We will have our show jar which will feature killies, loaches and AOV (that’s 3 different categories this month, so bring in your fish) along with our auction, raffle and name that fish. We will be welcoming Grant Crossman and his presentation on Reptiles and the Aquarium Hobby ~ Is There A Relationship? Grant will also be hosting the K-W Reptile Expo at Bingeman’s on April 22.
We are still looking for someone that will help organize this summer’s KWAS picnic. It has been running for many years now and is a nice family gathering for club members on a day in June or July to get together and swap fish tales while playing with the kids and enjoying the weather. Last year we held the event at Kiwanis Park which was a great venue. Please let the Exec know if you can help out with this.
Thank you.
See you at the next meeting
