I still have the best 2 fish left standing lol

My Tropheus are starting to breed so maybe it is a good thing. Not really I have too many fish and I refuse to get more tanks.

I always wanted a Giant Gourami (Osphronemus goramy) I might get one at least I will have plenty of feeders

Giant Gourami wow. My friend was working for a gold mining company in Indonesia for roughly 2 years. They had them in a bathtub. He said they are extremely aggressive. You don't want to put your finger in there.

A LFS owner in my home Town had one for about 25 years and he fed him Banana's. He had personality plus and was a real pet. I think a large wild one that they eat for food would not be a great pet. One more reason not to buy wild

One man's food is another man's pet.

I remember Leonard at Jerry's store, he was quite the inquisitive pet
It was a real sad day when Leonard passed on

    We here I go again...

I just stripped the female 10 min ago Feb 13 2010 for my records

I went to TFR and bought a breeding trap. by the way Jerry has a new shipment in from Spencer Jacks

I have about 30 - 40 fry not as many as the last time but I got all of them using the throat stroking method (thanks for the tip mglillie)

I had the breeder trap in the fry tank and some managed to fall into the tank. Seems the older siblings like their younger ones they vanished quickly enough.

So I am closing in on a hundred. I hope she gets some rest I made her a nice cave in her corner.

Seems like the second time She has caught onto the reason I am chasing her and has made it a real battle. I have to go wipe the wall down she put up a fight. One strong angry mom.

Hey Tim... im not a huge fan of the breeder nets...they work ok but i find the fry get trapped in them and die between the mesh and plastic frame.
what i like to use is a 5 gallon tank and place it inside my main tank. Fill it up with water from the main tank. It will float on its own but i like to use some clamps from the dollar store to ensure it stays in place. I change half the water every day from the main tank. This makes it so you dont need a filter or a heater and they can grow out to that 1-1.5 inch that you want them at.
I think a 5 gallon is a worthwhile investment and you can likely get one for 5-10 bucks. If it means you have one or 2 less fry die it pays for itself in no time.

I have a Floating fish hatchery like one for mollys. Water flows thru the trap and it floats made outta plastic. I am not worried about selling any fry any time soon.

    Maybe a up coming auction?

Good idea Dave I was thinking of getting someone with lots of big tanks to raise my fry up to adult groups
