    i am thining about getting a par meter. does anyone have one and if so where did you pick it up form

    Yes, I have and use the Apogee MQ 200. I am no longer guessing about light fixture or bulb performance, and that has made a huge difference for me to get the response and growth from my coral.

    For us it's a submersible device that measures Photosynthetic Available Radiation. Fancy term for how much light is reaching the coral. The newest term is PUR. Photosynthetic Usable Radiation.

    I got it at Incredible Aquarium .

    We bought it directly from Apogee. $399

    Just an FYI, Coral Reef Shop loans one out for 10.00 a day. Seems reasonable but not sure if or how they calibrate it? The Apogee one Bills talks about is an awesome little unit.
